Why choose a Yara SOx Scrubber

The Yara Sox scrubber is the most economical scrubber for the marine segment, with the safest handling and the highest quality components in anti-corrosion steel, giving it the same lifetime as the vessel in which it is installed.

The scrubbers are tailor made to any engine size and vessel, and with an extremely small footprint it will not affect existing passenger or cargo space. Of course, Yara Marine Technologies’ experienced service team will provide any required service wherever and whenever needed.

Choosing the Yara Sox scrubber is the best solution for efficient Sulphur reduction to get you ready for IMO’s 0,5% global Sulphur limit.

Key considerations:

  • Our inline scrubber can handle any Sulphur content in the fuel up to 3,5% in both open and closed loop mode.

  • We offer high quality scrubbers at competitive prices, with the lowest lifecycle cost in the market. Because our in-line scrubbers have no moving parts or bypass, they are easily installed in the funnel area.

  • We fit our scrubbers with high grade stainless steel, and we can offer extended guarantees against corrosion.

  • The inline scrubber system only requires the same space as the silencer (approximately) that it replaces, simplifying installation.

  • Yara is the only abatement company that can offer scrubber design that allows for both Magnesium Oxide (MgO) and Caustic Soda (NaOH) as alkali in closed loop. We normally recommend to use MgO because:
    • MgO as alkali is completely harmless and represents no health or safety risk onboard.
    • MgO is supplied as a powder and is easily available all across the globe.
    • MgO as alkali also requires less storage space than Caustic Soda as the MgO consumption is only ¼ of the corresponding Caustic Soda needed.
  • For those applications where Caustic Soda is a more suitable alkali, Yara will design the scrubber accordingly.
